Course Description:
Learn to punch a wonderful watermelon slice as a 6-inch Mug Rug with whipped hem OR a 4-inch wood framed coaster that can also be made into a bag charm (hardware will be included). This is an easy-going pattern that will allow for creativity in how students choose to blend their bulky and fine yarns to create the sweeter areas of the watermelon and the less sweet areas closest to the rind. You'll have a good introduction to using the Oxford Punch Needle and the basic stitches while also introducing how to add depth to your project with different punch needle sizes and mixing bulky weight rug yarn with fine weight rug yarn.
Course Option 1 is to make an approximately 4" wood-framed coaster project option, completed in a single session, with participants learning how to finish the project without sewing.
Course Option 2 is a two part class, making the larger, approximately 6" mug rug in the first session then returning for a second session to learn to add a beautiful whip stitch edge to the mug rug.
This is the second project in Taryn's punch needle Summer Fruit collection! Sign up for all of the Summer Fruit classes to have a fun fruit salad of coasters or mug rugs!
