Our Story
Amy Oxford is a renowned expert in the field of punch needle rug hooking, known for her extensive experience and innovative approach to the craft. Her dedication to preserving and promoting the art of punch needle rug hooking led her to create The Oxford Certification Teachers program, where she generously shared all of her experience and knowledge in the field.
After 25 years of teaching punch needle rug hooking, Amy fulfilled a lifelong dream of starting a school dedicated to craft in her hometown of Cornwall, Vermont. The Oxford Rug Hooking School, situated in a beautiful old colonial home, opened its doors in 2013, welcoming students from near and far. They learned not only the technical skills of punch needle rug hooking, but also the beauty, joy and satisfaction the craft can bring from Amy and her team.
In 2024, Amy retired from teaching and a new family, the Jains, came forward to carry on Amy’s impressive legacy. This brought about new and exciting changes for the School.
While no longer in its brick and mortar format, The Oxford Rug Hooking School still embodies the same welcoming feel and quality of education that Amy steadfastly provided, and embraces new configurations and class offerings via live virtual classes. The passion and dedication that our Oxford Certified Instructors bring to their roles as artists and teachers, help to educate, inspire, and nurture punch needle artists, whether they are just starting out or are seasoned crafts people.
We are so pleased to have you take a course and become a part of our story! Welcome!
