Join Oxford Instructor Taryn Kail, for this fun workshop to create a 9” trivet featuring a nocturnal, nature-loving armadillo tumbling merrily along with a heart shape!
In this workshop, we will review the regular 4-per-inch and 6-per-inch stitch lengths, and will then learn to add in the stem stitch and bead stitch. To achieve the amazing mottled look of the armadillo’s body, we will combine a multi-colored yarn and a more subtly shaded variegated wool rug yarn in a fabulous technique that uses bead stitch as fill! We will punch the main design with a #10 Regular Oxford Punch Needle and the outline will be punched with a stem stitch using a #8 Regular Oxford Punch Needle. Students will then have the option of two in-class finishes: A simple roll and stitched hem as well as a whip-stitched layered hem. In class, both will be demonstrated and started. Students who do not finish their project by the end of class will be able to rely on thorough take-away instructions provided by the instructor.
Choose from a cool or warm color pallet for class or add to your armadillo army by creating both! (See Materials and Supply list below) The yarn packs contain full skeins so you will have enough yarn left over to build your stash or even to potentially punch a second Armadillo!
This course and pattern is created and designed by Oxford Instructor Taryn Kail. A digital copy of the pattern is included in your course registration and will be provided to you by the instructor. Don’t miss this opportunity to add amazing detail to your future punch needle projects with this innovative and inspiring technique!
