Marcy Young
Bedford, MA
Marcy has been making rugs since 2000 after she inherited a rug hooking kit on burlap from her in-laws and then her mother gave her a hook her grandmother used. She has designed her rugs from the start as she did not like the pattern on burlap. Marcy has a fondness for wool, but has upcycled and recycled for her rugs. She has done traditional rug hooking the longest, but has taught prody, lockerhooking and pennyrugs. She has made mats, small rugs, footstools and wall art and well as other projects. Marcy has grown to enjoy Oxford punch needle rug hooking and became certified in 2018 by Amy Oxford at the Oxford Rug Hooking School in Vermont. She now teaches locally for small classes and groups. Marcy has been a 20 year member of ATHA, has been a member of the Mayflower Chapter of rug hookers in MA for 15+ years and the Baystate Braiders for three years. Marcy can be contacted for a schedule of classes or to arrange a small private class or a small group class. Beginner class can be a 2 hour workshop or a 6 hour more in-depth class. Other workshops for more advanced projects can be arranged after a beginner level class is completed.
