Cynthia was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and now lives in Wales, UK, with her husband, two Airedales, and an acre of garden and woodland. She has always loved wool and textures in fabric and learned sewing at an early age from her mother, making her own clothes, and watching her grandmothers knit, needlepoint, crochet and quilt. On a trip to Maine in 2014, she fell in love with traditional rug hooking and later that year discovered punch needle, which became a passion for her after taking Amy Oxford’s course at the Reeth Rug School, Yorkshire, UK in 2016. As a mental health counselor for many years, she has linked this traditional craft with a type of mindful practice, as it has its own rhythm and lends space to taking time for herself. She is an Oxford Certified Punch Needle Instructor and excited to share with you this traditional craft she loves, offering you a mindful space for your creative spirit. She is a member of the Pembrokeshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, and a volunteer at the National Wool Museum in Drefach Felindre, Wales, UK. Cynthia is offering courses around Wales, and is willing to provide both group and private tutoring. She loves the joy created when other people experience this craft for the first time and gain confidence in their creative skills. She sells supplies in her ETSY shop, and will be offering the supplies through her website in the coming year.
