The Patricia Lawrence Scholarship
Patricia Lawrence was a graduate of the 2008 Oxford Teacher Certification Program and she completed this beautiful rug as part of her homework. Anna's Flowers is 2' x 3'
BACKGROUND
This Scholarship was established by the punch needle rug punching group called Paulette’s Punchettes of Braintree, Vermont to honor Patricia Lawrence, a long-time member of their group and a dedicated rug maker and punch needle teacher who died too young in 2015. Pat (shown above) was a model in every respect: she brought integrity, patience, generosity of spirit, and a great sense of humor to all she undertook. She loved sharing her knowledge of rug punching with both adults and children.
By creating the Patricia Lawrence Scholarship, the group wanted to carry on Pat’s legacy and assist someone who might not otherwise be able to finance the course, to attend the Oxford Rug Hooking School.
The scholarship is managed by the Board of The Oxford Punch Needle Instructors Guild (OPNIG), along with the Oxford Rug Hooking School.
In 2025, the Patricia Lawrence Scholarships will be awarded to twelve (12) beginner students with up to $135 towards registration in an Oxford beginner class along with a $100 Oxford company gift card. (Maximum one scholarship recipient per any one class, until gone)
The awarding of the scholarship is managed by Simone Vojvodin, Dean of the Oxford Rug Hooking School, and the Board of The Oxford Punch Needle Instructors Guild.
Eligibility: The Pat Lawrence Scholarship welcomes applications from any beginner student who would like to attend a beginner class with an Oxford Certified Instructor.
