Mary Soderlund

Rhinelander, WI

Mary Soderlund is the founder and creative force behind Daisy Hill Homestead, a northern Wisconsin - based small business dedicated to preserving and teaching the heritage craft of rug punching. Her lifelong love of fiber arts was inspired by her grandmother, an artist who painted and created beautiful braided and hooked rugs, along with other textile pieces. Growing up surrounded by that creativity, Mary developed her own passion for working with fiber, spinning wool yarn, dying wool, felting, rug hooking, rug punching, and designing pieces that combine her many interests. In 2025, Mary became an Oxford Certified Instructor, teaching the techniques of punch needle rug hooking. She offers workshops throughout the state of Wisconsin, with potential to expand beyond Wisconsin as interest grows. Her vision is to work with people of all ages, helping them create with their hands and rediscover the joy of making something lasting and beautiful. In addition to teaching beginner and advanced punch needle rug hooking, Mary is actively involved in three fiber arts groups and is a member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists.
