Kimiko started making rug hooking pieces in 2014, and in 2017 she fatefully met the Oxford Punch Needle. She was amazed at how easy it was to hold and how comfortable it was to use and fell in love with making punch needle style rugs. Kimiko traveled to Vermont in 2019 to take private lessons with Amy Oxford. In 2020, she started to teach and promote Oxford Punch Needle in Japan. In the same year, her first book about Oxford Punch Needles was published called Punch Needle, Fluffy and Gentle Accessories. The book is about her collection of beautiful small rug works. Her character of Moomin designs and punch needle kits with her original designs is on sale by the publisher and you can purchase them at NIHON VOGUE Corp. Online. Kimiko became Oxford Certified in 2022 and is working passionately as a rug artist. She sells her creations at department stores and craft events throughout Japan. She is a mother who takes care of two children and lives in suburb of Tokyo which still has beautiful mountains and nature.
