Kazuko has been working with fiber arts, including knitting, weaving, spinning, and chemical and natural dyeing, since she moved to the United States from Japan in 1985. She began traditional and punch needle rug hooking in 2004 and became an Oxford Certified Instructor in 2025. Her certification rug, titled “Badger State Muffin,” was selected as one of all-media juried exhibition pieces for the 80th Art Annual, which was exhibited from October 2025 to February 2026 at the Neville Public Museum, Green Bay, Wisconsin. Her other rugs are featured in the books Design Like an Artist and The Haunted Rug by Deana David. Kaz devoted 30 years to teaching high school students, is passionate about teaching, and is excited to share her knowledge and skills in punch needle rug hooking with others.

1985年にアメリカが州国に移住してから、棒かぎ編み、織物、糸紡ぎ、染織等のファイバーアートに携わってきました。2004年から、フックで短冊状に切ったウール布を引き上げるラグフッキングと毛糸などを通した針を布地に刺して行くパンチニードルラグフッキングを始め、2025年には、オックスフォード認定インストラクターの資格を得ました。認定課題のオリジナルラグ、「バジャーステートマフィン」は、2025年度の審査制展示会第八十回アートアニュアルの展示作に選ばれ、ウイスコンシン州グリーンベイ市のネビルパブリックミュージアムにおいて、展示されました。また、他のラグもディアナ・デービッドさん著作の「デザインライクアンアーティスト」や「ホーンテッドラグ」にも掲載されました。三十年間高校教育に専念してきた経験を活かし皆さんにパンチニードルラグフッキングの知識と技術を伝えられることができたら幸いです。
