I have loved the colour and texture of things made from wool and threads since my mother taught me to knit and crochet when I was a little girl – from yards and yards (miles?) of spool knitting, to scarves and sweaters, cross-stitch samplers and needlepoint pillows. About 15 years ago, I started making traditional rugs by “pulling loops” and found that being “off the grid” of cross-stitch and needlepoint was liberating! When my dear friend Bonnie and I took our first course at the Oxford Rug Hooking School in 2013, I discovered the fun of making those same wonderful traditional rugs using the Oxford Punch Needle, and knew I had found my medium. I particularly enjoy designing rugs that capture our experiences in this part of the world, like the ones about making maple syrup and cutting ice that you see here. It is fun for me to share my enthusiasm by introducing others to the joy of creating beautiful punch needle rugs, pillows, and more. I am a Certified Oxford Instructor, and a member of The Oxford Punch Needle Instructors Guild (OPNIG), The International Guild of Handhooking Rugmakers (TIGHR), the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild (OHCG) and the Olde Forge and Glebe rug hooking groups in Ottawa.
