I have been teaching punch hooking for over ten years in a variety of formats, classes and workshops. I love sharing the excitement when a student first connects with the possibilities of punch hooking. In classes I explore as many of these options as possible - single yarns, multiple yarns, textured yarns, multiple heights, manipulation of loops, cloth strips (wool and other fibres), reverse hooking and other techniques. As students frequently have a traditional hooking background, the advantages and disadvantages of both techniques are explored as well as the many ways to use both techniques in a single piece. Students leave a workshop with a thorough understanding of punch hooking and its incredible possibilities. I have a background in weaving, spinning, dyeing, stitching, felting and other fibre arts, that I bring to a workshop. I am also a McGown certified instructor and so encourage students to learn and use as wide a scope of techniques as they have in their tool-box. In 2019 I joined Rug Hooking Magazine's Celebration Hall of Fame. Four of the pieces showcased in Celebration were punched and hooked, my usual method of working.
