There are two kit options available*

Kit Option 1: Monk’s cloth with traced design and PDF instructions, $45 plus $10 flat rate shipping to continental US.

Kit Option 2: Monk’s cloth with traced design, PDF instructions, and wool yarn package in colors for the project, $150 plus $12 flat rate shipping to continental US.

Students should provide:

14x14 or 18×18 inch gripper strip frame.
Oxford punch needles, size 14, 13, and 10.
Bent handle scissors.
Materials for finishing after class, including needle and thread, sewing pins or fabric clips.  If kit option 1 is selected students will need to provide yarns for punching.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: The fee for the kits is not included in the course registration fee. The kit fee is payable directly to the instructor who will contact you prior to the course to arrange the purchase and payment for your kit, to confirm your mailing address and to answer any questions you may have.

Celebrate the seasons with this incredibly popular four part series for intermediate level fine point punch needle rug hooking! Each panel features a tree in a different season, starting in springtime with cherry blossoms and a happy bee, then summer with cherries and a woodpecker, then autumn with a squirrel, and finally winter with a bluejay.

Throughout this class, Laura will be focusing on color and contrast, shading and eye movement, negative and positive space, plus creating flow and harmony within the piece. She also encourages customization and adaptation of the design, coaching different options during the class.

Laura is a contemporary Renaissance woman living and working on her family’s century-old homestead farm outside Hayward, WI. From fiber arts to creative writing, music to storytelling, she never tires of the magic of transforming ideas into form and overlapping narrative and visual. Laura also loves working with the many and beautiful natural materials from her farm—especially the wool from her sheep. Completing her MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts at Goddard College in 2011, Laura continues her lifelong passion for learning with engaged, hands-on teaching for small groups to encourage creativity, imagination, and expression. In 2015, Laura added punch needle rug hooking to her repertoire and completed her Oxford Instructor Certification in 2023. Showings include Sauder Village’s Rug Hooking Week, and her piece “Trout and Swallows” is featured in Amy Oxford’s book Punch Needle Rug Hooking.
