If you’ve always wanted to learn to make a hooked rug, here’s a chance to try your hand at a small project to see how you like it. You’ll make a beautiful 8” Star Mat that may be used as a trivet, wall hanging, or table top decoration. It would also make a lovely pillow. By making this project, you’ll learn everything necessary to punch larger rugs. The design lends itself to a myriad of creative color choices and we'll have a large assortment of gorgeous hand dyed wool rug yarns to choose from. You can also incorporate some fun novelty yarns and strips of wool fabric to create your own one-of-a-kind art piece. Need help picking colors? Instructor Heidi is excellent in this department! You're welcome to enlarge the pattern, additional yarn will be required.
Materials Fee: $59. Includes yarn and pattern on monk’s cloth. Punch needle with handbook, stitch gauge, and box ($36 unboxed/$45 boxed) and 10” x 10” Oxford Gripper Strip Lap Frame ($69) can be borrowed during class and purchased after class if desired. A supply list will be provided upon registration.
Please bring a bag lunch.
Student Helen Hall personalized her star with an ombre background.
Student Bunny Lavallee chose a lovely palette for her star mat.
