Stefan reports, "This rug is based off a design I did while back in community college. I took a design class. The original picture was done on absorbent paper and I used watercolor markers to do the design. This allowed for some wonderful blending aspects to the picture. The lion was sketched out first and then I drew a grid on top. Each square became its own art project. I did the same approach when designing and punching this rug. The #8 Oxford Punch Needle made the job very easy. I enjoyed mixing and punching with multiple strands to give more texture to my design, as seen in the close-up. The original artwork is now framed and hanging in a satellite office of the law firm I work for. This rug hangs in my home. I love how you have to study the rug in order to make the lion stand out. You can follow the curve of the back of the lion (left to right) all the way to the lion's mane across the top. Your imagination will fill in the rest."
